For more than a century, Grove Lodge #824 has been a proud part of the Downers Grove community, bringing together men dedicated to personal growth, friendship, charity, and service. Founded by a group of local citizens who believed in the timeless principles of Freemasonry, the lodge has continued to uphold those values while adapting to meet the needs of each new generation.

The founders of Grove Lodge envisioned a place where men of good character could come together to improve themselves, support one another, and contribute positively to their community. Their vision remains alive today. Through Masonic education, fellowship, and charitable works, Grove Lodge strives to fulfill the enduring Masonic mission of making good men better.

Today, Grove Lodge is home to 171 members, representing a wide range of professions, backgrounds, and life experiences. What unites these men is a shared commitment to integrity, service, and brotherhood. Within our lodge, lifelong friendships are formed, leadership skills are developed, and opportunities are created to serve both our members and the wider community.

Community involvement remains one of the cornerstones of Grove Lodge. Throughout the year, members participate in charitable projects, support local organizations, recognize veterans, promote patriotism, and contribute to programs that benefit families and individuals throughout the area. The lodge also hosts public events that allow residents to learn more about Freemasonry and engage with one of the world's oldest fraternal organizations.

Grove Lodge is more than a building or an organization—it is a community of men dedicated to helping one another and making a positive difference in the world around them. Guided by the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, we continue the work begun by our founders and look forward to serving Downers Grove and its surrounding communities for generations to come.

Whether you are interested in learning more about Freemasonry, attending a public event, or exploring membership, we invite you to discover what makes Grove Lodge #824 a special part of our community.

The Importance of a Lodge Secretary

In every Masonic lodge, the Secretary serves as one of the most important officers. While much of the work takes place behind the scenes, the Secretary is often the steady hand that keeps the lodge operating smoothly. From maintaining membership records and communicating with brethren to preparing reports, recording minutes, and ensuring compliance with Grand Lodge requirements, the Secretary serves as the administrative backbone of the lodge. The success and continuity of a lodge often depend upon the dedication, organization, and commitment of this vital officer.

At Grove Lodge #824, we are fortunate to have a Secretary whose service exemplifies those qualities. Brother Robert Vighi has faithfully served as Lodge Secretary since 2015, dedicating more than a decade to preserving the records, traditions, and daily operations of our lodge. His tireless efforts have helped ensure that Grove Lodge remains organized, connected, and focused on its mission. Many of the activities and accomplishments of the lodge throughout the years have been supported by his diligent work behind the scenes.

The office of Secretary often requires countless hours of service that go unnoticed by many members, yet it is among the most demanding and essential positions in Freemasonry. Grove Lodge is grateful for Brother Vighi's years of faithful service, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to the brethren. His dedication reflects the very principles of Freemasonry—service, responsibility, and devotion to the welfare of the lodge and its members.

On behalf of the officers and brethren of Grove Lodge #824, we extend our sincere appreciation to Brother Robert Vighi for his continued service and for the many contributions he has made to the success of our lodge.
